Our Story
The Heart Behind the Studio
Cricket Creek Studio was built on the belief that creativity belongs to everyone — and that making something with your own hands is one of life's great joys.
Meet the Maker
Hi, I'm Kathryn
Before Cricket Creek Studio became a reality, I had already been quietly building something special — hosting intimate workshops at workplaces, friends' homes, and rented spaces where creativity and genuine connection could flourish.
Cricket Creek Studio grew from a simple but powerful belief: that everyone deserves a place to belong, and that making things by hand is one of the most joyful ways to find it. I know how hard it can be to meet people and build meaningful friendships as an adult — and I also know that creativity is one of the most underrated forms of self-care. In a world full of stress, distraction, and overthinking, our workshops offer something rare: a reason to slow down, pick up a brush, and simply make something beautiful.
Whether you're here for the art, the community, or just a really good time — you're in the right place.

The Story Behind the Studio
The Name
Cricket Creek Studio is named after Cricket, my beloved Yorkshire Terrier. She's been my studio companion from the very beginning — and honestly, the best quality control assistant I could ask for.
Where It Started
My craft journey started with a scroll saw — cutting wood signs and yard art by hand, then painting and selling them. That love of working with wood has never left me. It's still at the heart of everything we do.
Always Exploring
I've dabbled in just about everything — beading, scrapbooking, ceramics, Cricut projects, and now a desktop CO2 laser cutter. If it involves making something from scratch, I'm in. Pinterest is basically my second home.
The Latest Obsession
My most recent adventure is laser cutting — crafting intricate ornaments, signs, and layered wood art with precision and detail that still amazes me every single time. You might recognize some of the results in our workshops!
Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first workshop. Don't see your question here? Send us a message — we're happy to help.
Booking a workshop is easy! Simply reserve your spot online through our Ticket Tailor events page (opens in a new tab). We accept credit card, debit, and PayPal. Your place in the workshop is reserved only once full payment has been received.
Most workshops run between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the project. Specialty classes or more complex builds may run a little longer. Each event listing on our booking page includes the expected duration so you can plan your evening accordingly.
We intentionally keep our public workshops small and intimate so that every guest gets personal attention and guidance. Group sizes vary by event — check the individual workshop listing for capacity details. If you're looking for a larger, fully private experience, we also offer private party bookings for groups of all sizes.
Absolutely come solo! Some of our most enthusiastic regulars started by showing up alone, and they left with both great art and new friends. Our workshops are designed to be welcoming and social — you'll fit right in from the moment you arrive.
No experience needed — and we mean it! Our instructors guide you step by step through the entire process, from the very first brushstroke to the finishing touches. You'll walk away with a completed piece of art that you made, and you'll probably surprise yourself along the way. Our workshops are great for novice and experienced artists alike.
Unless otherwise stated on the individual workshop description, we provide everything you need to have a successful (and seriously fun) workshop. Just bring yourself and your enthusiasm! Some specialty events may have a short list of items to bring — that'll always be clearly noted in the event details before you book.
We use water-based acrylic paint — and once it dries, it does not come out of clothing, canvas, or leather. Paint splashes and drips happen (that's part of the fun!), so please plan accordingly and wear something you're okay with getting a little colorful. Consider it a badge of honor.
We kindly ask everyone to arrive on time, as it can be challenging to join a workshop that has already started. We want everyone to have a wonderful evening, so please be considerate of your fellow artists by arriving promptly. Late admission is at the discretion of the facilitator.
Refreshments are not provided unless otherwise noted on the individual workshop description. You are welcome to bring your own snacks to enjoy during the event. Please note that alcohol is not permitted unless a prior Alcohol in Public Places permit has been granted by the City of Riverton.
We understand life happens! Here's our cancellation policy:
- Cancellations are not permitted and registrations are non-refundable.
- Up to 7 days before the workshop, your registration may be held as a credit on file, or transferred to another workshop of equal or greater value. Both options are subject to a $5 administrative fee.
- To request a credit or transfer, please email us with the workshop you wish to move to. Our team will follow up to assist.
- Within 7 days of the workshop, credits and transfers are no longer available. However, you may send someone in your place — just provide their first and last name, email, and phone number at least 48 hours before the workshop begins.
Most workshops are priced between $30–$40 per person. Specialty classes range from $45–$60, and events where you bring your own materials are typically $20–$30. Pricing for each event is always listed clearly on the booking page before you register.
Most of our public workshops are held at the Odd Fellows Hall, located at 102 N 2nd St, Riverton, WY 82501. Occasionally, events may be held at other venues — the location is always clearly listed in each event's details on the booking page.

Currently, our workshops are designed for adults. However, offering kid-friendly workshops is absolutely on our radar for the future — it's something we're genuinely excited about. Stay tuned, and follow us on Facebook (opens in a new tab) to be the first to know when that happens!
Gift certificates are coming soon! They make the perfect present for the creative person in your life. In the meantime, you're always welcome to purchase a spot in an upcoming workshop as a gift — just get in touch and we'll help you sort it out.
The best ways to stay in the loop are to follow us on Facebook (opens in a new tab) and to join our shop waitlist on the homepage — we'll email you when new workshops and products drop. You can also check our events page (opens in a new tab) any time for the latest calendar.
